Many companies often get stuck in planning mode, leading to a phenomenon known as "analysis paralysis", in which no action is taken.
Having a long-term goal is good.
But it can be overwhelming when you think about how to achieve it. There are a lot of steps to figure out and a lot of unknowns...
Some projects can even be so lengthy that the software or industry landscape has already changed by the time the plan is finalized.
How do you combat this over-planning, puzzling mode?
With the A-B-Z Framework, you don't need to know all the steps to achieve your goal.
All you need to know today is your A-B-Z:
- Where do you stand now (A)?
- What is the first goal (Z)?
- What is the next step (B)?
That's it.
You don't need to know steps C, D, or E in the beginning. If you focus on those, you will procrastinate instead of taking action.
Assess your current situation (A), determine your desired direction (Z), and identify your immediate next step (B). Then take that action promptly, preferably today.
You will discover the rest along the way.
